Last week in Sligo (14th January 2016), the official launch took place of www.sligoleitrimdirectory.ie an online Directory of Services for Sligo Leitrim.

OSD were proud to have designed and developed the website on behalf of the Youth Mental Health Initiative in conjunction with the Sligo Leitrim Children and Young People’s Services Committee (CYPSC) together with a number of other agencies.

This new website provides official listings of over 100 services for children, young people and families in Sligo and Leitrim. This includes information on health, mental health, education, disability, youth, childcare and other services.

The website hosts information on services relevant to children from pre-birth to young adults (18-24 years). The target audience includes service providers (e.g. schools, youth services, health services, statutory agencies, voluntary groups, etc.), adults working with children, young people and families, parents / guardians / carers and young people themselves.

The launch event took place in County Hall at Sligo County Council, Riverside, Sligo. There was a great atmosphere with over 80 people attending. Speaking at the launch, Grace Filan, who along with Hannah Scanlon, was one of the MCs for the day, said that “I think that Sligo Leitrim Directory is the bringing together of many different resources and has resulted in this great website. There are not many places that really take young people’s ideas and voices into account. As a Comhairle na nÓg Sligo member, I am so proud of all the work that has been put into this website. It’s so reaffirming to see that young people’s opinions and ideas are taken into account”. Grace and Hannah are both members of Comhairle na nÓg.

Commenting at the launch Mark O’Callaghan, Chairperson of the Youth Mental Health Initiative and Principal Psychologist Manager with the HSE, stated “I am delighted to witness the launch of this website today. It is a fine example of the excellent work that can be achieved when there is effective collaborative working between the relevant agencies groups.”

Anne Brennan, Youth Information Officer with North Connaught Youth and Community Service stated “This will be an invaluable resource for young people in Sligo Leitrim. The purpose of the site is to provide one central point of information on services for children, young people and families in Sligo and Leitrim, usable in both an online and printable format, which is user-friendly, strategically positioned, well known and regularly updated.”
